Rod Barry can’t sleep. He’s nervous as all hell. Images of boys in sexually charged positions invade his thoughts twenty-four seven.

He’s directing his first movie for All Worlds Video today and it’s ironic because his career has come full circle with the company since his humble beginnings as an active duty marine recruited into the gay and bi porn scene by the legendary Dirk Yates. Now Rod is a legend himself and is turning his talents behind the lens. “I’ve been around forever,” he jokes. “I’ve done porn with everyone. Dirk Yates, the Flintstones…”

Down the Drain is co-scripted by Barry as well and is based on his original concept about a plumbing company. It’s an ensemble movie with no one star and today’s scene casts All Worlds exclusive Kevin Brown topping one of the hottest twinks in gay porn today, Antonio Madiera.

Right off, it’s clear that Rod Barry is learning all about compromise when it comes to his original vision. He didn’t get the house he wanted when it came to location for shooting. He didn’t get the cast that he wanted due to the government’s 2257 regulation scare. He didn’t get the fisting scene he wanted. Still, he’s making more than the best of what he’s been given to work with -- and truth be told, he’s been given a lot. The house is gorgeous and the perfect backdrop for such a movie and the cast… well, with Kevin and Antonio, need I say more?

Looking at the cast breakdown, I notice Rod himself is not cast in any of the scenes, which I find most interesting. “Yeh, I didn’t think it would be a good idea to cast myself in my first movie,” says Barry. “I’m trying to be the anti-Michael Lucas.”

Outside, Antonio is taking his glamour photos for the box cover. He’s working on getting his cock up and they’re already running behind and short on time. Rod walks up and whispers something into Antonio’s ear. The boy is instantly hard and Rod walks away with a smirk on his face.

Meanwhile, Kevin Brown hang out, quiet but personable. Everyone on set is smitten with the company’s exclusive including Antonio who openly admits he can’t wait to have his cock up his butt.

After some initial dialogue, the two end up wrestling in the pool (there’s a fancy underwater camera trick that captures the action) and eventually making out. The pool, however, is freezing and Kevin warns Rod that his skin will break out in hives if he stays in cold water for too long. He would know, too. He’s a surfer and he can feel the hives coming on after twenty minutes of shivering in the pool.

Rod insists on just a couple more minutes of footage and then promises to move their romp poolside. “I know it’s cold guys, but it looks fucking great. Thank you so much, I know it’s hard.” And there we see first hand what will make Rod a first rate director: his compassion and empathy for and with performers. He’s been one himself and he knows what they’re going through.

At the same time, it’s fun to see him learning his craft and goofing up. At one point, he is calling out directions to the boys while they’re underwater. “Wait, they can’t hear me!” he reminds himself. At another point, looking into the monitor, he asks, “Antonio, would turn your head to the left?” not realizing that because it’s a monitor, he should turn his head right. All of these things are no doubt second nature to someone like Chi Chi by now and it’s fun to watch Rod learning step by step. Most importantly, he seems to be having fun doing it, too.

When it comes to the sex, Rod can’t get it dirty enough. Both performers are a little shy in real life, but as a director he manages to pull some hardcore performances out of the two. Kevin hasn’t fucked anyone this hard yet on camera and Antonio has never gagged so much on a cock to the point that his eyes water and saliva drips from his mouth.

“The leather scene is so over,” Rod tells me during a break. “It’s all about degradation now. I have a scene coming up later today where we’re forcing a boy’s face in a toilet while he gets fucked.”

Of course, Rod’s been doing this sort of thing for years in his scenes, but he’s one of the few. Now he promises to bring his hardcore antics to each movie he helms, infusing each performer with his insatiable sexual energy and having them do every filthy deed that pops into his head.
