Column #3: “What I Did Over The Summer”

Remember being in grade school on the first day of class and inevitably your teacher asks you to write an essay on what you did over the Summer? If you were like me, you would sit and think about what it was exactly that you did and attempt to construct something interesting out of watching Oprah and going to the mall. I am sort of feeling the same way now. But this time, unlike grade school, they boys are a lot hotter and you don’t have to say, “Good game!” in order to smack ’em on the ass!

I have had the chance to do lots of traveling and experience other cities, gay culture and subculture this Summer. First and foremost I recently had a birthday (June 30 th) and it was the best I had in some time. My friends took me to Avalon for the first time and I have to say I was so impressed with the space, eye candy and energy of the whole party! It really has a New York vibe. Thumbs up! Way up!

Speaking of New York, I actually spent a week there in mid-July and what a great time that was. I just love New York. The men, the culture… the men. I digress. I was lucky enough to get invited to the opening of Opaline’s new location in Midtown. I was actually pretty surprised that they would move from the East Village. But no worries. The party still has the same East Village “edge” coupled with some of the hottest club land personalities ever. My good friend was manning the door and let us breeze right through complete with VIP privileges. We walked into the VIP lounge and God knows I am not the one to name drop but I just have to take a minute to worship at the alter of Amanda Lepore. She is one of the hottest “chicks” I think I have ever gotten close and personal with. She really does sizzle. That and in honor of Madonna’s birthday, she performed a rendition of “Like a Virgin” I don’t think I will ever forget. That same night I also met David LaChapelle along with the two fashion gurus from Heatherette,Richie Rich and Travis. All around, a truly memorable New York experience!

I also want to make sure I mention a couple of “Ethan’s Hot Spots” to check out while chilling out this Summer. I recently bough the one and only porn goddess Jenna Jameson’s book, aptly titled How to Make Love Like a Porn Star. (Click on the title to buy the book at a 17% OFF! discount!) And Jenna, I know you read this site so I want to say I am not trying to brown nose here, but man do I tip my cap to you. The book is an honest, real and moving account of an amazing life. She tells a story that, whether you lean more to the Jackie Collins set or to the more conservative John Irving set, you will love this book. It’s a real page turner. Jenna, thanks for putting on paper what I know must have been scary and challenging. Your words touched and inspired me.

I also want to mention a web site where I recently contributed my list of top five songs on my iPod. The site is called PornConfidential.com. Great site and cool concept. My songs were:

1) “Girl” (Junior Vasquez Remix) - Destiny’s Child

A real feel good under the disco ball song.

2) “Defying Gravity” - Wicked, Original Broadway Cast

No, not a theater queen but this song is a club/gay athem in the making. Junior, if you see this, mark my words!

3) “Gotta Go Gotta Leave” - Vivian Green

One of the most underrated talents in R&B out there. This is my life in song.

4) “Lose Control” - Missy Elliott

Anything Missy does is golden with me. Love everything she does.

5) “Hate It or Love It” - G-Unit

This is a jam that pumps me up and makes me want to lift everything in the gym. That and 50 Cent is a F*^%%$ING stud!

And finally, I rounded out the month as a guest for Cocktails with the Stars at Micky’s, with my favorite cock sucker, Jason Sechrest, hosting. Seriously, it was really the first time I had ever done something like this and was nervous to say the least. But the people there were so friendly and God knows the hottie bartender helped too!
